The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, has issued a district-wise weather warning for the period 19 July to 23 July 2026. As per the latest NSDMA weather bulletin, several districts are likely to experience intermittent rainfall, moderate to heavy rainfall, localized thunderstorms, and lightning during this period.

Residents are advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and follow safety precautions, especially in vulnerable and low-lying areas.

Districts Requiring Special Attention

On 19 July 2026, Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Mon, and Phek are likely to receive moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall. Peren requires particular caution as thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by heavy to very heavy rainfall are very likely at isolated locations.

On 20 July 2026, rainfall activity is expected to continue in many districts. Kiphire may receive moderate to heavy rain at a few places, while Phek may again experience moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall. Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Niuland, Tseminyu, Wokha, and Zunheboto may also see intermittent rainfall.

From 21 to 23 July 2026, many districts may experience localized thunderstorms and lightning, along with light to moderate rainfall at scattered locations. People in Kohima, Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, and Zunheboto should remain updated and cautious.

Safety Advisory for the Public

NSDMA urges all citizens to take the following precautions:

Avoid standing under trees, electric poles, or near metal structures during lightning and thunderstorms.

Do not attempt to cross flooded roads, streams, or landslide-prone stretches.

Farmers and outdoor workers should suspend field work during lightning activity and move to a safe shelter immediately.

People living near rivers, streams, hill slopes, and low-lying areas should remain extra cautious.

Drivers should avoid speeding during rain and maintain safe distance on slippery roads.

Keep mobile phones charged and stay connected with local authorities, village councils, district administration, and emergency response teams.

Secure loose items around homes, shops, and construction sites to prevent damage during strong winds or thunderstorms.

Advisory for Travellers

Those planning travel between districts during this period should check weather updates before starting. Travel should be avoided during heavy rainfall, especially in landslide-prone and hilly areas. Commuters are advised to carry essential medicines, drinking water, torchlights, and emergency contact numbers.

Stay Updated, Stay Safe

The weather situation may change quickly. Citizens are requested to follow official updates from NSDMA, District Disaster Management Authorities, and local administration. Do not rely on rumours or unverified social media messages.
